Imad Rami, who served as a member of panel of arbiters in Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition, made the remark in an interview with IQNA, regretting that some Muslims hear the Quran with their ears but fail to hear it with their hearts.
He urged all of those who are devoted to the Quran to contemplate its verses and teachings.
Rami, who is a graduate of music, further noted that he has taken part in international Quran experts in 27 countries as member of panel of judges.
He has also traveled to several countries to take part in Ibtihal (recitation of supplications) in several countries.
It was his first time serving as an arbiter in Iran’s international Quranic event, though he traveled to Iran to judge another international Quranic event organized by Al-Kawthar TV.
The Syrian expert hailed the quality of Iran’s international Quran contest and said both the contenders and the arbiters were very good.
“I have not seen (Quran) competitions held at such a level in other countries,” he stated.
Rami was also asked about Quranic activities in Syria. He said these activities have grown significantly, especially in recent years after the civil war in the Arab country.
Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition was held in Tehran on February 18-24 with the participation of 69 reciters and memorizers from 44 countries.
